The dry fly enthusiasts loves the extended body fly which can be expressed realistic silhouettes of Mayfly. But most serious problem of the old-fashioned extended body fly was short strike and that is an established fact that the extended body itself is an obstacle that blocks the striking and firm hooking. In addition, it is not easy to tie in and takes a complicated process with more steps than any standard patterns.
However, our practical approach in the development of the Umbrella hook solved those issues;
1. The hook in the Umbrella dun is located far beneath the extended body and it does not block the striking and hooking.
2. It does the hackling just beneath of thorax to produce a realistic shape of Mayfly dun and gives great surface impression even floatability.
3. "The extended body twister" of C & F Design who is the manufacturer of most practical tools for fly tying allows us to make an extended body easiliy.

This fliy is an over size to the hook size but it does stable on the water and keeps a balance.
